Yellow Wood Immersive (YWI) is an immersive media collective producing cutting edge XR media (VR, AR, MR, and 360° video) projects. Working in collaboration with a variety of notable artists, creative technologists, tech companies, universities, and nonprofit arts institutions, YWI aims to revolutionize immersive media production and exhibition with the mission of building immersive bridges between disconnected communities and experiences.

Dr. Daniel Pimentel is an Assistant Professor of Immersive Media Psychology at the School of Journalism and Communication in Portland. Daniel’s research primarily focuses on cross-reality (XR) media platforms: virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR). Specifically, he conducts experimental research examining how XR storytelling experiences can contribute to prosocial attitude and behavior change across various contexts, including climate action, wildlife conservation, and mental/physical well-being.

His XR projects and prototypes have been funded by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), Thompson Earth Systems Institute (TESI), and the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC). His work has also been featured in peer-reviewed journals such as New Media and Society and Frontiers in Psychology, as well as reputed technology conferences such as Computer-Human Interaction in Play (CHIPLAY), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ Games, Entertainment and Media (IEEE GEM), and IEEE VR. Daniel also carries several years of XR industry serving as a researcher at various technology companies, including Magic Leap (Miami) and XR Americas (New York).

Ronald Baez is a Caribbean-American screenwriter, director, and immersive media artist from Miami, FL. Baez’s award-winning film projects have screened at film festivals and arts/science institutions worldwide including HBO’s New York Latino Film Festival, the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival, the Miami Film Festival, PBS Online, the Florida Museum of Natural History, and The Norton Museum of Art.

Baez's award-winning immersive media projects have been exhibited at the 2020 MIT Reality Hack XR Hackathon, the Florida Museum of National History, and the National Association of Broadcasters Conference (NAB Show). Baez was awarded the NAB Futures Innovator's Award in 2019 for his ongoing VR projects in collaboration with the University of Florida MET Lab. Baez continues to work with organizations and institutions like National Geographic, the University of Florida, the New World Symphony, the Sea Turtle Conservancy, and the Knight Foundation on a variety of immersive media projects.

In addition to his work as a filmmaker and immersive media artist, Baez is a founding member of the White Elephant Group, a Miami-based filmmaking collective, and also serves as the Artistic Director of the After School Film Institute, a nonprofit organization mentoring at risk, inner-city students in South Florida.
